Editorial: Lots of fuss about CeBIT Welcome to the special CeBIT edition of our newsletter. The Galaxy had a stand at the biggest technology trade show in the Southern Hemisphere. At CeBIT we launched a new fast-turnaround service Galaxy Overnight (see online) The all important Galaxy putting competition was kicked off by the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy (with zero consecutive putts, due to the pressure of photographers and the watching entourage, I gather). On day two, away from the spot light, Campbell Dobbin slipped in 12 putts in a row. In between golf, Campbell is CEO of an interesting out-of-the-box Intranet software company (see www.intranetdashboard.com). He went home with a chipping set. Billy Curry, of TLC IT Group in Port Melbourne, won on day one, and has a putter and automatic ball return on the way to him. Melbournians are clearly good at sport. (We hope they are good at marketing and business too because we have just engaged a talented Melbournian – see launch section below). The major prize draw, for everyone who managed to get one more putt in than the Minister, went to Irina Rabeja, of Electronics and Computers Consultancy. She has won a new PSP and Tiger Woods golf game. Congratulations. And thanks to all the friends, clients and colleagues who paid us a visit. The new service covers design (brochures and all types of visual brand applications) digital (online banner ads, splash pages, html newsletters and the like), advertising (such as magazine & press ads or online ads), presentations (professional powerpoint for that seminar or sales meeting you are doing tomorrow), copywriting (articles, ads, editing, online news etc) and production (where we get print or production formats, options and costs). As the name suggests we do the work overnight, either using later shifts in the Sydney studio or engaging our new creative and digital team in Perth. The Galaxy launches in Melbourne Our mission controller Coco Griffiths-Poppa is gradually introducing Victorian businesses to the full services of The Galaxy. As a launch pad we have an office in Toorak village – 42 Ross Street, Toorak VIC 3142. Coco has extensive experience in marketing communications and management, both above and below-the-line (these are tricky advertising words, invented before ‘digital’ not-so-sure-where-the-line is anymore). She has worked in both publishing and advertising, as a Marketing Manager for a major firm in Melbourne and for an international advertising agency (ie one that is much bigger than us). Recently Coco has also been a freelance stylist/producer in advertising.
